Messy Makers at Grow Mayow Community Garden

Fantastic Messy Makers art workshops for pre-school children on Wednesday 3rd and Wednesday 10th July at Grow Mayow Community Gardens in Mayow Park.
Both sessions will run between 10.15am and 11.45am and are set in a beautiful venue with a coffee shop for parents! They're run by local artist Jeni Johnson (www.jenijohnson.com) and are designed for pre-school children aged 15 months and above so they can get messy with creative play. The focus will be on painting, glueing, sticking, printmaking and much more and the sessions are aimed at boosting confidence and developing co-ordination.
The cost is £3 per family. Please wear old clothes!

Traffic chaos in Honor Oak today 28th June

A large hole has appeared in the road on Brockley Rise in Honor Oak, near the junction with Herschell Road and Lowther Hill. Lewisham Council has sent an emergency highways team to the scene, but major delays are being reported in the area this morning.

Children's summer reading challenge

Children aged between 4 and 11 are being given the chance to take up the summer reading challenge. Just read six books over the summer holidays and you'll get a medal - plus other prizes along the way. Go to any Lewisham library - including Forest Hill Library - to join. Wacky Races in Mayow Park!!

As part of the Sydenham Arts Festival Mayow Park is being transformed into a race-track for a fantastic open air show with a weird and wonderful collection of contestants competing in and Edwardian-style Wacky Races.

Blythe Hill Fields Festival 6th July

Loads of fun for families at Blythe Hill Fields Festival, Blythe Hill Lane, SE23
Saturday 6th July 12pm-5pm
Once again there will be lots going on including a fun fair, Punch & Judy shows, 5-aside football, storytelling, circus skills with Tea Dance for Little People, Surrey Docks Farm and loads more.
There will also be food on sale from fantasic SE23 businesses including Hills & Parkes and Babur, plus live music from Blues Patrol.

When is Sainsbury's HOP opening? UPDATE

Initially the new Sainsbury's Local in Honor Oak park was due to open in June. However, that deadline has almost past with major building works still ongoing.
According to local sources, the groundworks are now complete, builders are working onsite to start the refit and they're now looking at a September opening. It seems that HOP residents will have to put up with the huge dark blue hoardings for a little longer...

UPDATE: Opening tomorrow (Thursday 12th September) at 7am!

London Bubble Theatre Company workshop 29th June

The London Bubble Theatre Company alongside Holy Trinity CofE Primary School are running an arts and craft workshop at Forest Hill Library on Saturday 29th June between 2pm and 4pm.
All ages are welcome. There will be prop making, painting and loads more!

Fairlawn Primary School Summer Fair 29th June

Fairlawn Primary School Summer Fair takes place this year on Saturday 29th June between 12pm and 2pm.
There will be plenty of stalls and activities including an inflatable Jungle Run, large scale board games, a popcorn stand, hot food and a real ale and cider bar.
Raffle tickets will also be on sale on the day and prizes include an iPad Mini, 6 months JAGS Family Membership and £150 Campervantastic voucher.
