New Haberdashers' secondary school for East Dulwich?

There has been a lot of work behind the scenes to try to provide another co-ed secondary school in East Dulwich on the site of the old Dulwich Hospital. This would take huge pressure off SE23 families hoping for places in co-ed schools such as Kingsdale or Charter - both so oversubscribed you have more chance of winning the lottery!
Well, now there's good news. This from James Barber Lib Dem Councillor for East Dulwich...

We have fabulous news. After a thorough process our Steering Group formally asked Haberdashers' Aske's to provide our new school and run with this project for us. Last night they formally agreed to take this project forward.

Haberdashers' share our vision for a non faith co-ed secondary school with around 180 pupils per year group with a sixth form. They envisage modelling our school on the highly successful Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College.

Many thanks to the Steering Group for their hard work and support making this choice. I've enjoyed all the leg working talking to school providers over the last 12 months. This has been one of the most exciting campaigns I've helped lead in East Dulwich.
But also a big thank you to you for lending your support and being patient while we were in confidential negotiations. Without your support school providers wouldn't have wanted to work with us. But we're always looking for more support. Please get friends and family to register their support for our great new school via www.newschool.org.uk
